Sunday School Ministry
Chunda Teal, Superintendent - Contact | The purpose of the Sunday School Ministry is to supply a firm Biblical foundation to all of its students so that they may be equipped to carry out God's work. First Baptist Church has Sunday School classes for all ages. Meeting times are held from 9:45 am -10:30 am every Sunday morning.
Deacon & Deaconess Ministry
George Wallace & Mary Lyons - Contact | The Deacon & Deaconess Ministry's functions include but are not limited to the following: To fulfill their qualification as explained in Acts 6 and I Timothy 3 to the best of their abilities. To assist in devotional services and worship services as called upon. To assist the pastor in the leading, counseling, and caring for the membership of the church through whatever means necessary. To be able to teach when called upon or in the absence of the pastor. To assist the pastor in the ordinances of Baptism and Communion. To assist in pastoral obligations such as visiting the sick and shut-in and delinquent members.
Bruce Cross - Contact | Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Represent the church in all matters of legal responsibility regarding the purchase and disposal of church property. Execute all legal papers relating to the church and to the community as the church may direct. Develop an annual budget. Conduct periodic inspections of all church property to ensure timely repairs, safety and reduction of risks. Oversee the fiscal matters of the church through budgeting, stewardship, financial obligations, etc. Ensure the church operates with fiscal integrity, financial responsibility, and growth for the future. Keep the pastor and church informed of financial position of the church.
Pastor Aide Ministry
Mary Lyons - Contact | The Pastor Aide Ministry's functions include but are not limited to the following: Focuses on the welfare and needs of the pastor and the pastor's family. While providing support and encouragement to the pastor and his wife, the pastor's aide is also available to assist the pastor in different tasks in the church. Extend hospitality to visiting ministers and their families and guests. The Pastor's Aide is organized for the sole purpose of caring for the Pastor's needs. The Pastor's Aide is to take care of the Pastor and Wife during special days. Keep the pulpit clean and free of debris and beautified. Keep all linen and robes clean.
Women’s Fellowship Ministry
First Lady Napper & Rev. Wanda Turman - Contact | The Women's Fellowship Ministry functions include but are not limited to the following: To provide an environment for women to fellowship, worship, study, work and spend time with other women working towards friendships and closeness between the women of the church. Find ways to interact with young women and girls of the church mentoring them in what it means to be a Christian woman. Find ways to address negative issues that are prevalent with the women in the church. Plan trips for the women of the church focused on things the women want to do. These may or may not include the men of the church. Give the women of the church a forum to work through issues, problems and circumstances in their lives. Provide opportunities for the women of the church to fellowship with one another. Find ways to get the women outside of the church actively involved in the ministry through salvation, membership and service.
Leila Williams - Contact | The Senior’s Ministry's functions include but are not limited to the following: For members of the congregation aged 55 and older to coordinate and provide a balanced program of ministry for the Senior adults of the church through programs, services, and activities. Health Care: Find ways to help seniors with health care issues. This may include but not be limited to Health Fairs, Seminars, transportation for doctor's visits, sharing of information and programs available, etc. Meals: Providing meals to the sick and shut in seniors or to those who may not be sick but are not able to come out much anymore and may not have persons or agencies to provide all meals. Also, help in securing agencies to help with meals. Exercise: Encourage seniors and provide opportunities for exercise suitable for seniors thereby increasing their quality of life and reducing ailments associated with lack of exercise. Tools and Trips: Provide opportunities for traveling and touring places that our seniors would be interested in; local and non-local. Social and Recreational Activities: Provide opportunities for social interaction and recreational activities for the seniors of the church.
Shirley Jones - Contact | The Usher's Ministry's functions include but are not limited to the following: To provide a presence to help with the offering, greeting and seating arrangements before and during worship. While people are entering the church ushers should give a warm greeting, calling people by name when possible and help them with seating. This may include, when the church is crowded, asking people who sit near the aisles to move in toward the center of the section when others come to be seated. When the Order of Worship calls for the doors to be closed at a particular time, it means that no one should be allowed to enter during that period of time. People should be kindly asked to wait for the completion of the prayer, Scripture, song or invitation. The ushers shall lead the congregation in giving of tithes. After presenting their tithes they shall return to the rear of the church and lead the congregation out from the rear of the church. Prayer will be offered be offering are presented. Ushers who are on duty are asked to sit in a marked reserved seat in the rear of the church. At end of the worship service ushers should be prepared to open the doors and greet those who immediately leave the sanctuary.
Men's Fellowship Ministry
Rev. Bernard Pate - Contact | The Men's Fellowship Ministry functions include but are not limited to the following: To provide an environment for men to fellowship, worship, study, work and spend time with other men working towards friendships and closeness between the men of the church. Find ways to interact with the young men and boys of the church mentoring them in what it means to be a Christian man. Find ways to address negative issues that are prevalent with the men in the church such as addictions, authority, anger management, relationships, absenteeism in the church and home as well as feelings of abandonment. Plan trips for the men of the church focused on things the men want to do. These may or may not include the women of the church. Give the men of the church a forum to work through issues, problems and circumstances in their lives.67 Provide opportunities for the men of the church to fellowship with one another. Find ways to get men outside of the church actively involved in the ministry through salvation, membership and service.
Guardian Angels Ministry
Joe Wilks - Contact | The responsibilities of the Guardian Angels Ministry include but are not limited to the following: Provide a safe environment for members and visitors at FBC and all events associated with the church. Provide a strong male presence during FBC functions to deter criminal activity and situations detrimental to worship services and person attending worship. Assist women, children, elderly persons, visitors, etc. with entering and exiting worship services. Be watchful of church property, personnel and members including monitoring cars and the parking lot. To deescalate any tensions that may arise during any FBC functions, events, and worship services. To assist sick persons with exiting church functions in order to access medical care. Assist medical personnel in gaining access to persons in need. All functions of the Guardian Angels Ministry are done in a discreet, loving manner to bring peace and calm to any and all situations. The Guardian Angels Ministry is not security per se. They are a servant ministry ensuring the safety and comfort of all who enter the FBC campus and facilities.
Kasey Wilkie - Contact | The responsibilities of the Youth Ministry include but are not limited to the following Provide youth-oriented activities for the youth of the church Meet with youth of the church to ensure the activities are those they are interested in. To plan one trip per year for the youth of the church. To develop a youth Bible study to be given during adult Bible Study. To keep pastor abreast of all youth events and activities. Plan a youth revival and one youth Sunday a year for the youth of the church. To work with Vacation Bible Study staff in planning and implementation of Vacation Bible School.
Music and Fine Arts Ministry
Dr. David Allen - Contact | Our charge is to minister spiritual songs, hymns and praises with faithful commitment to the Kingdom of God and First Baptist Church. We endeavor to have outstanding attendance in services, rehearsals, meetings, workshops and training sessions giving our best in skillful practice and sincerely devoting ourselves in worship. Our desire is to usher in the presence of the Holy Spirit as we glorify God through Christ.
Dr. David Allen - Contact | Our charge is to minister liturgical dance, anointed expressions and holy dance creativity with faithful commitment to the Kingdom of God and First Baptist Church. We endeavor to have outstanding attendance in services, rehearsals, meetings, workshops and training sessions giving our best skillfully through practice and sincerely devoting ourselves in worship. Our desire is to usher in the presence of the Holy Spirit as we glorify God through Christ.
Dr. David Allen - Contact | Our charge is to minister in the vocation of audio visual support with faithful commitment to the Kingdom of God and First Baptist Church. We endeavor to have outstanding attendance in services, meetings, workshops and training sessions, continually gaining knowledge of equipment and sincerely devoting ourselves to workshop. Our desire is to usher in the presence of the Holy Spirit as we glorify God through Christ.
Intercessory Prayer Ministry
Rev. Wanda Turman - Contact | The responsibilities of the Intercessory Prayer Ministry include but are not limited to: Meet monthly to lift up the prayer concerns of the Pastor and members of the First Baptist Church before God. Commit to faithfully pray for the leadership of the church, members of the Intercessory Prayer Ministry, and other prayer concerns as they are presented to the ministry on a regular basis. Handle all prayer requests with the utmost confidentiality and never outside of the ministry unless requested to do so by the person with the request.
Health Guild Ministry
Beverly Roberts - Contact | The responsibilities of the Health Guild Ministry include but are not limited to: Provide activities that focus on the physical health and well being of the congregation Conduct month Blood Pressure Clinics on the third Sunday of every month following the 8:30 am and 11:00 am worship services. Partner with other churches and community organizations to provide programming that benefit the health of the faith community as well as the community at large. Work in conjunction with Faith Health NC.
